Required Materials:

White Saral Wax-Free Transfer Paper
8″x13.5″ New England Wood Sign by Walnut Hollow
Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint in these colors:

Barn Red
Bright Yellow
Black Maple
Sugar Tan
Blue Heaven
Medium Foliage Green
Cardinal Red
Midnight Blue
Copen Blue
Pumpkin
Dark Foliage Green
Spice Brown
Ivory
Tangerine
Lima Green
Tomatoe Spice
White

Small scruffy brush
Delta Ceramcoat All-Purpose Sealer
Delta Ceramcoat Matte Interior/Exterior Varnish
Stylus
Sponge brush
Brown paper bag
Palette knife

Instructions:

Step 1: Surface Preparation

Apply sealer to wood sign using sponge brush and let dry. Basecoat top of sign with “Blue Heaven” paint. Paint sides with “Emperor’s Gold and Midnight Blue”. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Transfer Santa Pattern to Tray

Download the Snowman Pattern by clicking here using Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, click here to get it for free!).
Using “White” Saral Wax-Free Transfer Paper, transfer the pattern you’ve downloaded onto the wood sign. With 3/4″ wash brush and diluted Ivory paint, float “snow” effect across bottom of sign.

Step 3: Paint the Pattern using this color guide:

Snowman:

Body Ivory shaded with Maple Sugar Tan
Nose Tangerine
Eyes & Mouth Black
Hat Medium Foliage Green shaded with Dark Foliage Green
Stitches Lima Green
Pompom Ivory
Scarf Tomatoe Spice with Highlights in Pumpkin and shaded with Barn Red
Scarf Stripes Blue Heaven

Arm Branches Spice Brown
Snow Ivory

Birdhouse:

Sides & Bottom Maple Sugar Tan shaded with Spice Brown
Roof Midnight Blue

Center Hole Spice Brown

Snowflakes :

Flakes Ivory
Snow “dots” Ivory

Lettering : Midnight Blue with “dots” on each letter with Midnight Blue (use stylus)

Step 4: Finishing

When paint is completely dry, apply two coats of varnish with sponge brush, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next coat. When dry, lightly “sand” sign using brown paper bag. Using palette knife, apply Snow-Tex to the top of the sign to create a three-dimensional “snow” effect.
