Crochet a cute little Mini Christmas Angel with a Size 5 hook.

Crocheted Mini Christmas Angel

MATERIALS:

I used Southmaid # 10 crochet thread and J.P. Coats Metallic Knit CroSheen for highlight color and Size 5 crochet hook.

DIRECTIONS:

HEAD:

Round 1: Ch2, work 8 sc into 2nd chain from hook, place marker after last sc. Do not join rounds.
Round 2: 2 hdc in every sc around (16)
Round 3-6: Hdc in every hdc around (64)
Round 7: Decrease in every third hdc (12) (yo, pull up a lp in each of next 2 hdc, YO and draw through all loops, dec. made); stuff head firmly, sl stitch into starting stitch

WINGS:

Round 1: Ch 3, dc in same stitch and 2dc in each stitch around, slip stitch into 3rd chain (24)
Round 2: Ch 4, tr in same st, 2 tr in each dc around (48) fasten off. (connect); change to highlight color
Round 3: Connect with slip stitch and chain 2, hdc in same stitch, 2 hdc in each of the next 5 stitches * ch 2 skip 2 stitches, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, sc in next st, ch 2, skip 1 stitch, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip next 1 stitch, sc in next st, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 2 st * hdc in next st, slip st thru top of last hdc of first hdc grouping, hdc in same st, 2 hdc in next 5 stitches, repeat from * to *, slip st to top of first hdc of row and 12th hdc previous hdc grouping (connecting waist of angel. Change back to base color – work around waist only now

SKIRT:

Round 1: Ch 3, sc in next hdc, ch 2, skip 1 hdc, sc in next hdc, ch 2 across slip st to beginning chain.
Round 2: Slip stitch to chain 2 space, ch 3, dc 3 times in same space, *4 dc in next ch 2 space * across, slip stitch to 3rd chain of chain 3 at beginning of row.
Round 3: Chain 1, sc in every stitch across – slip st to beginning.
Round 4-6: Ch 2, hdc in every st across – slip st to beginning. Switch to highlight color
Round 7: Ch 1, skip 1 hdc * 5 dc in next hdc, skip 1 hdc, sc in next hdc * repeat from * to * across, finish off.

HALO:

I use the beads on a wire…wrap around finger and twist tightly then cut. The stem is bent down. Glue the stem portion to the back of the angel’s head. Adjust so the halo is free standing above the head.

Make 2 3-loop bows: one using 1/8 inch off white satin ribbon; the other using 1/8 metallic gold ribbon. Glue the off white bow on top of the halo stem then glue the gold bow on top of the off white bow.

HANGER:

Cut a 10 ” piece of off white ribbon. Using your crochet hook pull one end through several threads on top of the head in the middle of the halo. Pull ribbon through until even and tie a knot.
